Iraq Chef, FN/Expat, Baghdad, British Embassy,

Chef – FN / Local                                    

Location: FCO Baghdad British Embassy

Salary: Negotiated

Start Date: Immediate

Beyond SOF referral bonus: $500

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare both international (including western) and local dishes for the staff working at the British Embassy and their visitors.
  • Maintain and develop the current Standard Operating Procedures of KBR and report directly to the Expat Head Chef.
  • Conduct all aspects of food preparation and service within the kitchen ensuring all legal requirements are maintained including. documentation of food and fridge/freezer temperatures during and after preparation.
  • Ensure that all legal and health and safety issues are followed and maintained according to guidelines and policies.
  • Act upon guidance and direction from Head chef about the day to day requirements of the kitchen and specific requirements for functions.
  • Maintain good working relationships with the customer.
  • Monitor safe systems of work.
  • Assist in any continuation training that may be required.
  • Attend Security training where and when required.
  • Responsible for the security, control and use of all job related equipment when at your place of work.
  • Assist with catering for Events within the British Embassy as required
  • Other tasks as requested by the Contract Manager in support of the KBR contract.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, and Experience required to do the Job:

  • Be highly motivated, strong, and confident and articulate with a good understanding of written and oral English. Have good people skills and be a sound communicator.
  • Have a proven track record in being a member of a team within a kitchen.
  • Ideally would have a good knowledge of current UK Food Safety policies.
  • Ideally would have worked at a reputable hotel or restaurant that serves international food – including western
  • Be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Have planning and organisational skills.
  • Be flexible.
  • Competent in food production methods, food service, recovery and disposal, and food safety practice.
  • Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate preferable
