Sr. Systems Analyst for Business Intelligence; Chicago, IL; $100K-110K

Job Description:

We are looking for Sr. Systems Analyst of Business Intelligence. This position is responsible for building, implementing and supporting Microsoft BI solutions that provide data, analytics, visualizations and other tools to deliver data access, trend analysis and decision support. In addition, this position will help to develop the corporate framework and governance to help drive business intelligence for a global audience.

All candidates must be local. This position has decent benefits, 401K, stock options, 2 weeks of PTO plus 1 week of personal time. Duties and Responsibilities:

The right individual will possess experience in all stages of BI project work (requirements and logical design, physical design, implementation, testing and deployment). The Sr. Systems Analyst should have a firm grasp of BI implementation methodologies and will have had in-depth experience with the Microsoft BI Stack (SSIS, SSRS and SSAS).

• Data gathering, research and analytical abilities so as to develop insightful conclusions and generate solutions to address user needs with the use of software packages like you’d find on the Vantiq website for example.
• Create written communication materials that effectively summarize findings and support recommendations
• Direct quality assurance and user acceptance testing by writing test plans and managing the execution of testing (Unit and UAT)
• Share in team ongoing 2nd/3rd level technical support for supported applications and environments supported by the Information management and Shared Services team.
• For example, HRIS, Time and Attendance, Educational systems, Compensation planning, Goal and Career planning, Payroll, Costing, Pricing and Sales Reporting
• Collaborate with other teams within the organization and be able to devise the technical solution as it relates to the business & technical requirements
• Basic project leadership development of project plans and provide time estimates on related project work
• Create and follow timelines
• Communicate project status(s) within IT
• Will be expected to mentor colleagues and be proactive in developing colleague skill sets to have a better understanding of Analysis Services.

Most problems will be related to systems and technology (fixing bugs, integrating new and existing technology, enhancing existing technologies)

Must be able to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving for Information Management based problems.

Decision making will be related to application support and project based work: project planning and design, milestone development and establishing associated timelines.

Knowledge and Experience:

• Must be experienced in SASS
• S. degree in systems related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in database design and/or business analysis with strong skills in analytics and OLAP cube development.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience using Microsoft business intelligence stack to produce analytics and reporting capabilities.
• Technical experience includes the following:
• SQL Relational Database and SQL Language
• Microsoft SQL Analysis Server (2012 or above)
• MOLAP and Tabular experience
• MDX and/or DAX experience
• Optimization/Aggregation
• Report Development (Microsoft SSRS)
• Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) (Microsoft SSIS)
• Microsoft PowerBI, PowerView or other Visualization tool experience.
• Information Management
• Data Integration
• Dimensional Modeling (Kimball Methodology)
• SQL and related technologies (2012 or above)
• Skills and behaviors needed to teach, tailor messaging, and—when necessary—to assert control during interactions with business partners. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and adjust communication style by medium and audience
• Experience supporting manufacturing or product development environments a plus
• Distribution, Finance, Manufacturing, Inventory, Warehouse Management, Transportation Management, Capital Asset Management, Pricing and Job Costing
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX a plus
